Police are urging people to be vigilant with their mail deliveries this Christmas as a surge of parcel thefts are expected over the coming months.

Senior Sergeant Anson Lin said November and December see a spike in parcel thefts.

He also said offenders put on high-vis jackets and pretend to trim trees or be a delivery person.

  1. Opt for tracking so you can follow your parcel from the depot to its destination and provide clear instructions so couriers can deliver your parcel safely.
  2. Make sure you or someone you trust is home to sign for the package or have a secure location within your property where it can be hidden.
  3. Clear your mailbox in a timely manner and put a hold on mail delivery if you're going away.
  4. Consider CCTV or security cameras and keep an eye out for anyone suspicious hanging around your property.
