One critical after crash between car and motorcyle closes major Akl road

A major had been blocked, and a motorcyclist has suffered critical injuries after a crash in Auckland this morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Pakuranga Road and Stanniland Street in Pakuranga shortly after 8.50am today after a motorcycle and car crashed.

"The motorcyclist is said to have critical injuries," police said.

St John said one person had been transported to Auckland City hospital in a critical condition.

"The Serious Crash Unit is attending, and motorists are asked to avoid using Pakuranga Road if possible," police said.

There are diversions in place.
